Terms of Service

Lumsyl is a planning tool for the self-employed. Anyone can explore a worked example on this site — a prepared situation you can read through, but not change. Entering your own figures and saving a plan needs an account, and accounts are currently invite-only.

These terms cover the site itself and — if you create an account — how the account, your saved plans, and the subscription work.

Agreeing to these terms

By accessing or using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

You must be at least 18 years old to use this site, to join the launch list, or to create an account. This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

This site is informational

Everything on this site — including any explanation, example, or estimate relating to taxes, income, deductions, health coverage, or business structure — is general information published for educational purposes.

It is not tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, accounting advice, or investment advice. Reading it does not create a professional relationship of any kind between you and us. We do not know your situation, and nothing here is tailored to it.

Tax and benefit rules change, vary by state, and depend on facts specific to each person. Before you act on anything you read here, talk to a qualified professional who can look at your actual circumstances.

Estimates are estimates

Where the site shows a number, that number is an illustration generated by a model from simplified assumptions. It is not a determination of what you owe, what you will receive, or what any agency will decide. Real outcomes differ.

We try to keep the site accurate and current, but we do not promise that it is either. Content may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong.

Your account

You need an account to enter your own figures or save a plan, and one person should have one account. Give us an email address you can actually receive mail at: sign-in links go there, and so does anything we write to you about your account, your subscription, or a change to these terms.

There is no password: you sign in by clicking a link we email you. That link is the key to your account, so do not forward it, and tell us if you think someone else has reached your account.

You can close your account whenever you like. Email us, and we will delete the account and everything in it within 30 days. Download anything you want to keep first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks the rules in Using the site below, and we will say so at the address on the account.

Your plans and your figures

The figures you enter are yours. We store those figures to run the tool for you and to have your plan waiting when you come back; we do not claim ownership of them, and we do not use them for anything else. How we handle them is set out in our Privacy Policy.

You can download any saved plan as a file at any time, including a plan your subscription no longer opens. That is a term rather than a feature: access to the service is something you can lose; access to your own data is not.

The tool computes from what you give it. If a figure you enter is wrong, out of date, or describes a situation you are not actually in, the estimate will be wrong too.

Subscriptions and payment

There is a free plan and a paid one; what each includes is shown in the product. The paid plan is billed annually: payment buys a year of access starting the day you pay, at the price shown at checkout, and the subscription renews automatically each year until you cancel.

Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.

You can cancel at any time. There is no cancel button yet: email us, and we will cancel the subscription and confirm once it is done. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your access continues until the end of the year you have already paid for.

We do not give refunds, including for the remainder of a year you stop using. What you paid for is the full term, and you keep it.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it, and your access stays live through those retries. If the payment still does not go through, the subscription ends and the account moves to the free plan. We may change the price. A new price never affects a term you have already paid for: it applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before that renewal.

If your subscription ends

Nothing is deleted. If you cancel, or a renewal does not go through, the account moves to the free plan and everything you saved stays exactly where it is.

• Every plan you saved is still there, with everything in it.
• You can download or delete any of them at any time.
• One plan stays open — the one you were working in most recently. The others are visible but locked until you renew.
• In the plan that stays open you can keep editing what is already there; you cannot add more of what the paid plan covers.
• The tracked year closes, and its saved position is kept, not cleared.

Renew, and all of it opens again as it was. The same limits apply to a free account that never subscribed: the limits above are the free plan, not a penalty.

No warranties

The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not promise the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, lost data, or tax penalties or interest, arising out of or relating to your use of this site or your reliance on anything published on it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to this site will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Other sites we link to

We sometimes link to government agencies, publications, and other outside sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. A link is not an endorsement.

The launch list

If you give us your email address, we will use it to tell you when early access opens and to send occasional updates about the product. You can unsubscribe from any launch-list email we send, or write to privacy@lumsyl.com and ask to be removed.

Joining the list does not entitle you to access, to a particular price, or to anything else. We may change the product, change the timeline, or decide not to launch at all.

Using the site

Do not use this site to break the law, interfere with its operation, attempt to reach systems or data you are not authorized to access, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others, or present it as your own.

The name, content, design, and code of this site belong to us. You are welcome to read it, link to it, and quote it with attribution. You may not reproduce it wholesale or claim it as your own.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes with them. If a change is significant — to the subscription, to what happens to your saved plans, or to the disclaimers and liability terms — we will say so on the site, and write to account holders, rather than quietly revising this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada.

If part of this does not hold

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder stays in effect. If we do not enforce a provision immediately, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.

Who is responsible

Lumsyl is operated by Lumsyl LLC, a Nevada limited liability company.
